Ready to Take a Leap Into the Unknown?

So you have an idea! Great! Now what? Are you ready and willing to do what it takes to make your idea become reality?

So many great ideas just wither on the vine, so to speak. You wait for the right time or the right opportunity. You wait for all your ducks to line up. Mike Dooley, the guy who sends out the amazing Notes from the Universe, warns about waiting to get your ducks in a row. He reminds us that we never see a mother duck standing by the water telling her ducklings, ‘Okay, kiddies, get in a row.” No, mother duck just jumps into the water and all those little ducklings jump in behind her and follow her wherever she leads.

If you wait for your ducks to line up, you’ll never get anything accomplished because the reality is, rarely, if ever, does everything line up perfectly and then wait for you to embark on a great new adventure. Whether you want to pursue a great new idea, start a business, start a relationship, sell a house, or embark on a fitness program there will always be something that can be labelled as a barrier to starting or finishing.

No, you have to just decide: This is what I’m going to do and this is when I’m going to do it. And then you have to commit and start moving. Once you start moving towards
your goals, without fail the Universe will come to meet you. As long as you know the first few steps to take in the direction of your goal, you can start moving towards it and look for the signposts that tell you you’re on the right road and which direction to head next.

In the movie, The Secret, Jack Canfield gave a great analogy. He likened it to driving
down a road at night. You can only see as far as the headlights extend and as you drive, the light from the headlights moves ahead of you and lights your way. You have to trust that you will be able to see just far enough ahead that you can stay on the road. It’s the same thing with travelling the road towards your goals. You have to have a degree of
trust that you are on the right road and that the path will open up for you.

If you’ve created a clear vision of where you want to end up and checked in with yourself – was it a Hell Yes? – then you can start walking the path with confidence that you will be shown the right direction and be sent the resources you need, when you need them.

You know, life is an adventure. Sometimes we just have to be brave and head off into the unknown, secure in the knowledge that everything always works out for the best. It may not feel like it when we are in the middle of a situation, but guaranteed, when we come out the other side and look back, we can see how we learned and grew from the experience and, if we are willing, we can see how it was all perfect just the way it was.

So be brave! Ideas bubble up from your deepest self—your soul—as invitations to try something new. Take a chance, choose one of your most compelling ideas, and go for it. What do you have to lose?

Okay I know that last question is loaded and you may be able to come up with a whole list of what you have to lose, but I can tell you, as someone who is a bit of a risk-taker, that very few ideas are really life-threatening. Most of them have relatively low risk and potentially high payoff.

Feeling unsure? Then pick a little, relatively risk-free idea and take the plunge. Think
how swash-buckling you’ll feel. Won’t that alone be worth it?
