Creating a Vision Board

This vision board is pretty clear

Creating a visual prayer is easy and fun.  Just go through magazines and cut out pictures, words, and images that depict the future you’d like to attract into your life.  Again, be careful what you wish for.  I’ve seen people put pictures of messy rooms up on their vision board to remind them to declutter.  The Universe doesn’t work that way.  If you put a picture of clutter on your vision board, you can be sure that your clutter will be there to stay.  Instead, choose a picture of a serene, clear, uncluttered room and attract that into your life.

You can also put words, quotes and poems on your vision board.  Back in 2004, when I first heard the term ‘Future Pull’, I tried to buy the domain name, futurepull.com, but it was not available.  I printed it out on the computer in a large font and put it on my vision board. In about 2007 I had the urge to check it out again and sure enough it was available.  I am now the owner of the futurepull.com domain name.

However, one year I cut out a short verse topped by a picture of a ship in a storm.  The verse said something like, ‘I am not afraid of stormy weather because I’ve learned to steer my own ship’.  Well, that year was one of great upheaval in my life and I certainly had the opportunity to test my ability to stay afloat.  Now I am much more careful about the images and words that I choose to add to my visual prayer.

You can mount your pictures on a foam board, poster board, bulletin board, or even stretched canvas so that you can hang it easily.  I have a vision board on stretched canvas that I hang near my front door so that I see it when I leave the house in the morning.  I also have a vision book, a large photo album with clear plastic pages that I slip pictures into.  I keep that by my bed so that I can look through it before I go to sleep.

Previously, I introduced you to Alex Sumner, a young British man I spoke to about his manifestation experiences. Alex has a unique approach to vision boarding.  He calls it cosmic ordering and he puts a great deal of thought and planning into it.  Alex creates a vision calendar using a desktop publishing program.

Alex says he likes to make it easy for the Universe so he starts by making up lists of what he wants to manfest in his life in the next year and then puts them in the most logical or natural order for achievement.  For example, he thought it might be better to have his job become permanent before he tried to get a new apartment so he put them in that order on his vision calendar.  Then he asked himself, “When would be the best time to begin a new relationship?”    The obvious answer was Valentine’s Day so a new girlfriend became part of his February vision.  He met his girlfriend on February 10th at a party that he normally would not have attended.

Alex believes that one of the reasons why sometimes people don’t succeed at attaining their dreams is because they go outside the ‘sphere of availability’.  If what they want is too far from their reality, they cannot believe in it as completely as they could if was more attainable.  Alex believes that the key is to gradually expand your sphere of availability as you continually set and achieve your dreams.
